Ana Sagar Lake

Sits in the lap of Aravali hills, the beautiful Ana Sagar Lake is one of the most outsatnding tourist spot in Ajmer and a wonderful excursion from Pushkar. Ana Sagar lake is an artificial lake created by King Anaji of Ajmer in the 12th century. The lake was originally created for the welfare of the people of Ajmer in times of acute water crisis. The villagers used the lake water for irrigation, cooking, bathing etc. Now the lake is treated as an exotic tourist attraction in Ajmer. Ana Sagar lake is probably one of the largest lakes in India. The lake is encircled by many other tourist attractions in the town like Daulat bagh and temple of khobra Bheroon. The interesting fact about the lake is that it completely dries up in the summers. Therefore, the best time to visit the lake is from October - March when the climate is cool and the water level is up to the mark.
