Varah Temple

Varah Temple is another important temple in Pushkar. It is believed that offering prayers at the various temples in the holy town including Varah Temple help devotees wash their sins. The sacred temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, who is a part of the holy trinity of Hindus - Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh and is one of the most revered God in Hinduism. The temple has an image of Lord Vishnu in the incarnation of wild boar. According to a legend, Lord Vishnu once visited the earth in the incarnation of a Varah (Wild boar) to kill an atrocious demon Hirnayaksh. The temple was constructed to honor his deed for the salvage of mankind. Varah temple is popular for both religious and scenic reasons as it offers exotic views of the picturesque Pushkar Lake and the magnificent Aravalli mountains.
