Savitri Temple

Savitri was the first wife of Lord Brahma. The 'Savitri Temple' was built on the holy land of Pushkar in honor of the goddess. It is the second most important temple in Pushkar. Located just behind the Brahma Temple on a hilltop, the temple provides a panoramic view of the scenic Pushkar Lake and exotic sand dunes nearby. Goddess Savitri was a chaste woman, once her husband Lord Brahma married another woman in her absence. The instance saddened her completely and she cursed Brahma that he would never be worshiped anywhere except Pushkar. That is the reason why there is just one Brahma temple in the world, despite being a part of the holy trinity - Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. Tourists who come to Pushkar offer prayers at her temple for her blessings and good luck.
