Brahma Temple
Brahma temple in Pushkar is one of the most revered temple and is perceived as one of the five holiest pilgrimages of Hindus in India. The other being Puri, Rameshwaram, Dwarka and Badrinath. The temple is famous for its four-headed idol of lord Brahma. It is decorated with silver coins and a silver turtle on its black and white chequered floor. Brahma temple in Pushkar is the only temple in the world where Lord Brahma is worshiped despite being the part of the holy trinity. There is a very interesting parable attached to the existence of this temple. It is believed that once Lord Brahma had descended on earth to perform a 'Yagya'. His wife Savitri was not with him at that time and the 'Yagya' would be incomplete without her. Therefore, Brahma married a local girl 'Gayatri' and sat down for the Yajna. Meanwhile Savitri landed on earth and, upon finding some other lady sitting next to Brahma, cursed him that he would never be worshiped anywhere on earth. On being pleaded by other gods, Savitri recanted her curse partially and said that Lord Brahma will be worshiped only in Pushkar. The curse worked and Lord Brahma, the creator of earth was never woshipped outside Pushkar neither there is any other Brahma temple in the world. The mythological temple is highly venerated and praying at the temple is considered very auspicious. So do not forget to visit the temple while you are in Pushkar.
